Our History

In anticipation of health care market changes resulting from the State of Oklahoma’s Medicaid program transition to managed care in late 1994, Community Health Centers, Inc., (CHCI) applied for and received an Integrated Services Network (ISN) grant to explore the feasibility of establishing a managed care contract negotiation network.

When the feasibility analysis indicated there were inadequate resources to sustain a managed care organization, planning for an integrated network took place from 1995-1996, laying the foundation for Central Oklahoma Integrated Network System (COINS). In 1997, COINS began to undertake activities that serve and support the safety-net providers in the community.

Now after 7 years of service in the community, COINS continues with a vision that all people, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, disability, language or ability to pay, receive culturally sensitive and appropriate health and social services through a coordinated and seamless system of people and organizations working together in a collaborative manner.
